3 Easy Steps to a Room Makeover

A room makeover can seem like a daunting task. The thought of stripping a room down to its bare nothingness and starting over may seem stressful, however, in 3 easy steps the process is a piece of cake!

1. Replace space-eating furniture with custom furnishings

Depending on the room, the big furniture is priority number one. Remove old couches, tables, and dressers. After those have been cleared, assess the space and it’s time to refurnish with custom items. Whether it be a bedroom or sitting area, I’m a big fan of area rugs. Size, fabric, and shape can all be customized to fit a room perfectly. Considering bathrooms are much smaller compared to other rooms in the home, a simple accent table or stand will do the trick. As far as sitting rooms go, glass anything is great, the see-through element that glass provides gives the room a more spacious look.

2. Theme, Theme, Theme!

If the creative juices aren’t flowing, one of the easiest solutions is to construct a themed room. If the room under remodel is a child’s bedroom let them choose their favorite television character or sports team and decorate accordingly. Removable, life-size wall stickers are a great paint substitution. A favorite of mine for spare bedrooms is the patriotic, American themed room. Comforters, pillows and hanging pictures in red, white, and blue are easily found and are relatively inexpensive at outlet stores.

3. Donate

Coming back to step one a little bit, any furniture or knick-knack pre-makeover is going to need a new spot. Donate it! Instead of cluttering another room in the house, throw the old coffee table and linen in the car and drop it off at your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. Donations are a quick, easy process and not to mention a tax write-off. Linen, toys, and furniture are exactly the types of things that donation centers are looking for and who doesn’t like the feeling of helping other people out? Who knows, you might even find a cheap piece of decoration to add to your new-look room while you’re there! However, if the old stuff isn’t in condition to donate, there are plenty of removal options.

So, rather than a long, grueling process you’ve completed a room makeover in just 3 easy steps! Custom furnishings, themes, and donations! Giving a room a new look should be a fun, stress-free experience and this is the secret! Enjoy!
